Blue Lined Octopus
The Blue Lined Octopus (related to the Blue Ringed Octopus – there are about 4 in the family) is found in the temperate waters of the Queensland and New South Wales Coasts. It is small, about the size of a man’s hand but it is lethal. When agitated the normally faint lines (rings) turn into pulsating Neon Blue flashes with a mesmerizing effect as it moves about. This docile little creature will protect its habitat fiercely and humans will be in serious danger if bitten. The venom attacks the central nervous system causing the victim to stop breathing within minutes. Imagine the danger if one is in deep water at the time.
