Mardi Gras

This portfolio is a tribute to the wonderful people of New Orleans who have been celebrating Mardi Gras for many years. Some of the floats are more than 100 years old.

The festival takes place between the day of Epiphany and Lent during which many parades of floats are held in different parts of the city.  St. Anne’s Parade is known to be an informal parade of mostly inhabitants of the inner city which takes place during the festivities of Mardi Gras. Their message varies and I am not always sure that I get it but that does not matter on bit.  Some spend days even weeks on their elaborate costumes. On this day they come together in their thousands to celebrate and celebrate they do.

New Orleans is one of two cities in the USA (that I know of) where it is not illegal to drink in the street. The other is Savannah in Georgia.
